About Claire
Next Director »Claire is one of today’s most exciting up-and-coming directing talents, earning a Young Director Award nomination at Cannes Lions and being named by Shots as a “new director to watch” and by the Globe and Mail as “Canada’s next great auteur.” Born in Liverpool and raised in Canada, Claire began her career directing music videos for artists such as Broken Social Scene and Austra, and she broke into the commercial space with her film “I’m a Boxer” for Everlast, which was featured on Adweek, BuzzFeed, and The Huffington Post. She has since worked with brands including Samsung, Bayer, Special K, and Dove as part of their long-running “Real Beauty” campaign. Her work provokes viewers to examine issues of ownership vs. objectification, gender equality, and the female gaze.
Claire was invited to participate in Tribeca’s inaugural NOW program which features promising directing talent with distinct vision. Her short film Exit had a successful festival run, including at the Vancouver International Film Festival where she earned the Most Promising Director Award. She was also invited to participate in Netflix’s Canada Pitch Day and Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative mentorship program based on her pilot script for The Hypnotists. Her first feature film, City of Rainbows, is currently in development.
